Discover Orcival

Orcival was founded in Paris in 1939, and has been manufacturing its shirts in France ever since.   The name of the brand comes from a small village in the centre of France, cherished by its founder Charles Bert .

During World War II, Bert had to flee the North of France and relocate his workshop from Paris to Lyon.   Despite its location in downtown Lyon near the city hall, the workshop was fully integrated with knitting, cutting and sewing under one roof.   Orcival was knitting fabrics with its own "Rachel" looms, one of which was dedicated to making the French Navy official jerseys.    Later on a circular loom was introduced to make heavy cotton fabrics in open end yarn.

Orcival's main design, the French marinère is quite iconic and as French as a garment can get. Worn by so many from James Dean to Pablo Picasso, it is a shirt that is versatile, well-made and exudes a particular feeling of joie de vivre.

Orcival's commitment to provide an authentic product, 100% made in France, with the right fit and superior yarns has drawn us to feature these shirts as a central element of our spring/summer offering.
